  Isis New Album: Wavering Radiant

New Isis album announced Wavering Radiant: Isis Rides The Wave On New Album due May 5th on Ipecac

Doom rock outfit Isis will return May 5 with its new Ipecac album, "Wavering Radiant." The set will be released first on vinyl on April 21.

Vocalist/guitarist Aaron Turner tells Billboard.com the album is "perhaps a little more orchestral in feel" than its four predecessors. "There's more layers going on and more interplay between the instruments, rather than layering of parts," he says.

All·Idols is an autopsy of the album ballots from the 2008 Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics' poll. For All·Idols purposes all ranking and point-weighting is ignored; a vote is a vote. All results and statistics here are my own calculations, and may differ from the Voice's own tallies, either from methodological variance or simple errors, theirs or mine. But I have tried to make sure that my errors, at least, are complicated.

New Worriedaboutsatan album announced: Titled: Arrivals - due in April on Gizeh Records

one of the most anticipated experimental electronic albums of 2009 ! evoking hauntology, droning scrapes of guitar soundscapes buried in minimal dubby electronic rhythms

via Gizeh records email:

A new Worriedaboutsatan record 'Arrivals' will be released in April and sees a slight departure from the usual Gizeh 'sound'. These guys are seriously the real deal and their intricate, emotive, minimal techno mixed through swirling ambience and atmosphere will keep you hooked for sure.   Depeche Mode Album Announced: Sounds Of The Universe

via HOME // a Depeche Mode website

Today, the band finally unveiled the title of their forthcoming album, “Sounds Of The Universe”, in a press release posted to their website. The album is set for release on April 20th (UK), and a day later in the US.

Press Release:

DEPECHE MODE
ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF
SOUNDS OF THE UNIVERSE
APRIL 21, 2009

January 15, 2009- Groundbreaking, chart-topping electro legends Depeche Mode are proud to announce the release of their long-anticipated new studio album, Sounds Of The Universe on April 21, 2009 (Mute Records).

Eclectic and energized, the band’s new release is their most dazzling and diverse album in decades. Recorded in Santa Barbara and New York, Depeche Mode returned to using a lot of vintage gear, from analogue synthesizers to drum machines, in order to conjure up the retro-futuristic arrangements featured on the album. Lyrically the release contains many of the group’s enduring obsessions plus more overt black humor than any of their previous collections.

Like with their 2005 studio album, Playing The Angel, Sounds Of The Universe features writing credits for both Martin Gore, the group’s primary songwriter, and Dave Gahan who after honing his talents on two solo albums, has earned his place as Depeche Mode’s second writer. The release also marks a reunion between the band and producer Ben Hillier (Blur, Doves, Elbow), who worked with the band to help give their new album its timeless sound. The first single from the release, “Wrong,” grabs the listener’s attention from its first stack-heeled, staccato shriek. Over stomping beats, screeching synthesizers, and Dave’s overlord chant, “Wrong” already feels like a Depeche Mode classic. Other standout tracks include Martin’s velvet-lined Scott Walker croon on the sensual lounge-music ballad “Jezebel,” to the sci-fi gospel-blues hymn “In Chains” and “Hole To Feed,” which marries modern electronics to a floor-shaking, bone-rattling Bo Diddley beat.

As one of the most influential bands of the post-punk era, with global sales in excess of 100 million, Depeche Mode belongs to a select premiere league of super groups who have survived from the early 1980s with their ideals, creative vision and core members intact. Formed in 1981, Depeche Mode - Martin Gore, Dave Gahan and Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher - continue to win critical and commercial acclaim across the world both in the studio and on the road. All of the band’s 11 studio albums have reached the Top Ten in not only the UK and USA but 20 plus countries around the world including Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, and Belgium. Additionally, since their inception Depeche Mode’s live shows continue to be a must-see attraction, with the group playing to 2.8 million people across 31 countries on their last tour alone.

Depeche Mode will be announcing additional album details and tour news in the coming weeks. For more information please go to www.depechemode.com.

Studio update | recording with Brian Viglione

I was in the studio most of last week, working on the new album, 10 Neurotics. Two days were spent recording drum kit and percussion with new band member, Brian Viglione (The Dresden Dolls, WORLD/INFERNO). On Saturday we listening and mixed, on Sunday I got a handle on the track "Inch Worm" which has been attempting to get away from me for many many month. Brian and I made a lot of progress on these songs, giving them an aurally lush environment and shape that pushes them beyond the initial versions I started with. I am really excited about these songs! They feel alive, visceral, and immediate. They are more acoustic and traditional in structure then what I have written in the past; definitely less swirly and ambient, but with the same dark moods, chord changes and sonic sensitivity that you expect. Black tape for a blue girl, sounds like a "band" rather than a "soundscape." .....

Strawberry Fields

introducing: Ytsejam.com - Your Progressive Rock One-Stop - Strawberry Fields joins Myspace community!

Strawberry Fields – this fascinating project was created by Wojtek Szadkowski, a highly acclaimed musician known best from his work with Collage, Satellite or Peter Pan. The band’s music is a strange blend of the old and the new, of rock guitars and soft keyboards, loops and psychedelic soundscapes. But what is most important here is the magical voice of Robin (Marta Kniewska), a beautiful female lead singer. On the band’s debut album entitled “Rivers Gone Dry” Marta is supported by the intelligent guitar play of Sarhan Kubeisi (Satellite), simple yet effective bass lines of Jarek Michalski (Satellite), and Wojtek Szadkowski's drums. Guest appearance was done by keyboardist Krzyś Palczewski (Satellite). It’s a perfect album for the lovers of such bands as Goldfrapp, Portishead or Massive Attack. Marta’s voice will also satisfy fans of Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering/ Agua De Annique).
